[Tune] Drumattics Twins - Broken Planet / Cant Give You’ up (Finger Lickin’)
Ex shades of Rhythm boys the Drumattics Twins, return to our ears in there first outing on Finger Lickin’ since the monster release that was Hyperspeed / 333
The leading track ‘Broken Planet’ keeps the ravey feel of Drumattics of late and infuses eastern synth vibes, detuned to the point of breaking . This hypnotic lead flows over a pounding bass line and tight break beats. As ‘Broken Planet’ progresses things become stripped down and a Stephen Hawking impersonator makes a guest appearance with a hooky ‘broken planet’ robo-voice sample.
This tunes highly infectious bass line, distinctive lead, and ‘ravetastic’ stabs are bound to make you get on the floor.
On the flip side ‘Cant Give You Up’ is a more progressive stripped back affair, leaning heavily towards house but still defiantly driving a ‘breaks’ sound (and the most minimal ‘broken beat’ you can have really, kick snare kick snare).
Bendy synths and warm swells, coupled with disco vocal licks give ‘Cant Give You Up’ a truly unique sound that shines through the crowd. Not only taking cues from a scene increasingly becoming dominated with electro house influences, but turning the tables and showing that ‘electro lot’ how it should be done! Perfect production memorable, but not cheesy, melodies and stomping beats achieved with style and panache. ‘Cant Give You Up’ is the highlight for me!
Out on 17th March
